Yemen holds a place of profound historical significance in the world of coffee — it was through the ancient port of Mocha that coffee first travelled beyond Ethiopia to reach the rest of the world. Today, Yemeni coffee is among the rarest and most prized on the global specialty market, grown on terraced hillside farms in regions like Haraaz, Bani Matar, and Raymah at altitudes exceeding 2,000 metres. Using ancient dry-natural processing traditions unchanged for centuries, Yemeni beans develop an intensely complex, wild character — deep dried fruit, dark chocolate, tamarind, wine, and earthy spice with a heavy, lingering body.
